Come celebrate The Haven’s first annual concert to benefit the day shelter. We work to reduce homelessness by initiating creative solutions and coordinating regional resources and services. The Acoustic Showcase promises to be an evening of the very best singers and songwriters around! Refreshments will be available at the event. Here’s some more info about the performers:

Alex and Amelia of Mountain Man

mm-queenshall-150x150

Recently back from a world tour with Feist, Alex and Amelia will sing songs in the sparse and haunting style that has characterized them as indie-folk legends. This is a rare show, not to be missed. Their last public performance was on Prairie Home Companion, and what a blessing it will be to have them fill The Haven’s sanctuary with their unparalleled hymnal beauty. (www.mountainman.bandcamp.com)

Caleb Stine

calebstine

Caleb Stine’s music has been described by The New Yorker as “appropriately trainlike–steady and powerful,” by The Baltimore Sun as “Truly compelling.” His confessional singing style and intricate guitar finger-picking will be accompanied by local bassist Lee Johnson an pedal steel powerhouse Dave Hadley. Red & The Romantics

RedCharlottesville’s own songster Erik the Red teams up with local musicians Steve Riggs and Betty Jo. This band has established itself as a rightful heir to American masters such as Hank Williams and Johnny Cash. Their sound is as warm and timeless as firewood and whiskey.
